Excuse my absence. I've been preoccupied...with holidays, a house, and a mouse. Yes, we've got a slight mouse problem.
Let me set the scene. It was Christmas Eve. I was heading over to Chookie Chookie Grandma's house to make some bobalki. Hubs, dad, and sister's fiance were hanging out at our house while the ladies were going to bake.
I wasn't even out of our neighborhood, when I saw him staring back at me with his pointy nose and long white whiskers and nothing but a thin pane of glass between us.
I called my husband immediately. Our conversation went something like this:
"We have a mouse problem."
"What are you talking about?"
"We have a serious mouse proooobbblllleeeeeemmmmm! AHHHHHHHH!"
Needless to say, my end of the conversation was so entertaining that he put me on speakerphone, so my dad and soon-to-be brother-in-law got to hear the screaming. They may not have needed speakerphone. I was not happy.
That darn mouse hung on tight. Granted, my grandma's house is probably only a mile away, but he held on for dear life with those tiny little toenailed feet. He made it the whole way.
After the bobalki were made by my shaky hands, when I went back to the car, he was gone. My grandma's slightly concerned that he now may be living in her garage instead of mine. I can't blame her.
I forgave my husband for the whole speakerphone thing, as he, my dad, and sister's fiance cleaned out the garage while we baked. They assured me that the mouse's nest was merely a "bachelor pad" and not the home for an extended family.
Since then, we've found more half-eaten acorns in the garage. More on the mouse-hunt to come...
