Last week we got our second Cleveland Magazine in the mail (I guess now we're officially Clevelanders. Weird, I know). Upon opening it, I spotted an article about a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) in the area, and it was pretty much love at first sight.
CSA's are groups where people buy a share (subscription) for a harvest season and they get fresh, local produce in return. I've been interested in joining such a group for the past couple years. (After all, the local seasonal food is good for the environment, the economy, and your belly. What's not to love?) We never heard about any nearby organizations when we were in Georgia, so we were super-excited to hear about the one right here!
After discussing the possibility with my husband, who definitely didn't need any convincing, we decided to join Fresh Fork Market. They have a bunch of pick-ups around town, where we'll go once a week to pick up a bag of fresh fruits and veggies (they have a vegetarian and vegan option, so it works perfectly for us!) from June through the beginning of November.
So, we're ready to take on the local, seasonal food challenge. Starting in June, each week I'll post at least one seasonal recipe for you to try (at least seasonal in Cleveland, OH).
Get ready for some tasty locavore treats!
