cheddar bay biscuits

I love Red Lobster.  Really, who doesn't?

Mainly I love their biscuits.  I could really just eat the biscuits while there and just take home my fish.  That's allowed, right?

I've been trying to find a good recipe for their cheddar bay biscuits, but most of them call for Bisquick (and in turn taste like Bisquick).  I never found a recipe I liked, so I combined about 5 recipes together to make these gems.

I'm pretty sure it's the best recipe out there.  Mainly because I think we've tried every recipe out there.  And this is the best =)

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

-2 c white flour
-1 tbsp baking powder
-1/2 tsp salt
-2 tbsp vegetable shortening
-3/4 c milk
-3/4 c shredded cheddar cheese
-3 tbsp butter, melted
-1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
-1 1/2 tsp dry parsley

Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and vegetable shortening in a medium bowl.  Mix well until shortening is well-incorporated.  Add the milk and cheese.  Combine, form 6-10 biscuits, and place on a ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes, until slightly browned.  While baking, melt the butter.  To the butter, add garlic powder and parsley and mix.  When the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them liberally with the garlic-parsley butter.  Enjoy warm.
